Barcelona have confirmed that Neymar will return after the international break at the start of September.

The 24-year-old has been away all summer with the Brazilian team competing at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

It was thought that, after scoring the winning penalty in the shoot-out to secure gold for Brazil, Neymar would return to Barcelona this week.

However, the club have confirmed that he will not be back until after the international break, therefore missing Barca's second La Liga match of the season against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend.

Brazil face Ecuador on September 1 and then Colombia on September 6 in World Cup qualifiers.

Rafinha, who also scored a penalty in the shoot-out win over Germany, will return to Barcelona training on Wednesday having not been selected for the qualifying matches.

Barcelona started their league season with a 6-2 win over Real Betis on Saturday, Luis Suarez netting a hat-trick in the victory.

With several Europe-based players deemed not fit enough, Tite has turned to youth with Manchester City's new signing Gabriel Jesus, Taison, Rafael Carioca, Fagner, and goalkeeper Weverton - who made a crucial save in the penalty shoot-out victory over Germany in the Olympic final last week.
