Alexander Hleb's agent has claimed a return to Stuttgart is a possibility and that more will be known within 48 hours.
The Barcelona playmaker had been expected to join Inter Milan on a year-long loan as part of the blockbuster deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o swap clubs.
However, a lack of guaranteed first-team football scuppered his prospects of a Serie A switch, leading to speculation he could return to the Bundesliga club where he made his name.
Possibility
While Hleb's agent has refused to confirm where his client will be playing next season, he did state returning to Stuttgart is a possibility.
"All I can say right now is that the next 48 hours will be crucial in Alex's immediate future," he told Stuttgarter Zeitung.
"Returning to Stuttgart is definitely possible."
Meanwhile, reports in Germany are speculating Stuttgart have agreed a fee in the region of £9million with Zenit St Petersburg for Russia international Pavel Pogrebniak.
