Striker 'shocked' by the Chelsea captain's reckless challenge

Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has said John Terry deserved the red card that will see him miss the UEFA Champions League final. Terry was shown red for kneeing Sanchez in the back during the 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night that meant Chelsea will meet Bayern Munich in the final. The Barcelona forward says Terry should be ashamed of himself for the reckless and unprovoked challenge that left the Blues to battle for more than 50 minutes against the Spanish giants with 10 men. "It was shameless and not something I would expect from a player of Terry's standing and ability," Sanchez said.

Shocked

"I was completely shocked by Terry's unprovoked actions, particularly in a game of such great importance." "He could have really hurt his team but then had the good fortune to see them qualify. I'm not sure there was much justice." Terry himself initially denied any wrongdoing before later admitting his actions let Chelsea down, but Sanchez has revealed he is yet to receive an apology. "He crossed the line and he regretted it," Sanchez added. "I never spoke to Terry after the game or since. He did not apologise but I think he was too wrapped up in the celebrations." UEFA revealed on Friday that despite being suspended for the final Terry will be allowed to lift the Champions League trophy if Chelsea overcome Bayern at the Allianz Arena on 19th May.
