Cristiano Ronaldo has called on Real Madrid fans to create a "magical" atmosphere against Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Madrid will need to overturn a two-goal first-leg deficit if they are to reach the semi-final stage of the competition for the sixth consecutive season.

Goals from Ricardo Rodriguez and Maximilian Arnold helped the German club record a 2-0 victory at the Volkswagen Arena on Wednesday evening.

But Ronaldo remains confident ahead of his side's crucial game midweek.

"The team are confident, the coach has faith and the fans must also have faith. Tuesday has to be a magical night," Ronaldo said.

"It is also important to remain calm in certain situations, we need patience and to know how to suffer for the win.

"The key objective is getting through to the next round. It is the only option that will allow us players and the fans to leave the stadium happy."

Ronaldo added to his remarkable goal scoring record with another strike against Eibar in La Liga on Saturday.

Madrid, who are now just four points behind league leaders Barcelona, scored three goals inside the first 20 minutes at the weekend and Toni Kroos says his side will need an equally strong start on Wednesday if they are to progress in Europe.

"It will be important to get the upper hand early on," he said. "We don't want it to still be 0-0 at half time. We have to play attacking football, without doubt, but we have to play wisely."
