Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has completed his switch to Napoli for a fee of around £2m.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Bologna and was out of contract next summer.

Giaccherini was brought to Wearside when fellow Italian Paolo Di Canio was in charge but started just 18 Premier League games in two years before his Bologna move.

He started four of Italy's five games at Euro 2016, scoring in a 2-0 win over Belgium and converting a sudden-death penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out defeat to Germany.

Giaccherini's agent said last month the "dream" would be a transfer to Chelsea, where his former Juventus and Italy boss Antonio Conte has just taken charge.
