Serie A round-up: Napoli move three points clear at the top

Napoli

Unbeaten Napoli moved three points clear at the top of Serie A with a 3-1 win against Sassuolo at Stadio San Paolo.

After Allan's opener was cancelled out by Diego Falcinelli, Jose Callejon restored the lead just before the break and Dries Mertens then added a third goal early in the second half for Maurizio Sarri's side, who have 10 victories from 11 league games this term.

Juventus are second, with Lazio now third and level on points with the champions.

Simone Inzaghi's side thrashed bottom club Benevento 5-1 away earlier on Sunday, with Ciro Immobile netting his 14th league goal of the season.

Lazio took a fourth-minute lead through Bastos and by the midway point of the half were in full control with further goals from Immobile and Adam Marusic.

Achraf Lazaar pulled one back for the hosts just after the interval before Marco Parolo made it a three-goal cushion once more and Nani converted late on.

Sixth-placed Sampdoria also registered an emphatic victory as they beat Chievo 4-1 at home.

Three goals in six minutes saw Sampdoria's Karol Linetty and Lucas Torreira score either side of Fabrizio Cacciatore's effort for the visitors, and Duvan Zapata then made it 3-1 just before half-time. Torreira netted his second of the match with six minutes of the contest remaining.

Fiorentina suffered a 2-1 loss at Crotone, whose goals came seconds apart in the first half.

Ante Budimir and Marcello Trotta scored in the 17th and 18th minutes respectively before Marco Benassi hit back for Fiorentina just before the break.

SPAL moved out of the relegation zone as they posted just their second league win of the season - and first in nine matches - by defeating Genoa 1-0 at home.

Mirko Antenucci notched the only goal in the 56th minute, with his side moving up from 19th to 16th place.

Atalanta's Bryan Cristante had a late penalty saved as his team were beaten 2-1 at Udinese.

The Bergamo side had led through Jasmin Kurtic, but Rodrigo De Paul's successful spot-kick and an Antonin Barak goal turned things around and Cristante then blew the opportunity to salvage a point as his attempt from 12 yards was kept out by Albano Bizzarri.

There was also a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at home in the late game for Torino over Cagliari, with Iago Falque and Joel Obi scoring for the hosts after Nicolo Barella's opener.
