Fans reassured over Brazilian's future

Inter Milan defender Maicon will definitely be staying with the club for the 2009/10 campaign, according to his agent. The Brazilian expressed his happiness with life at the Giuseppe Meazza earlier this week but speculation has continued to suggest he could leave. The likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all understood to be interested in securing his services this summer. Inter president Massimo Moratti has also rejected the full-back's request for a pay increase. However, Maicon's representative Antonio Caliendo insists he fully intends to honour his contract, which does not expire until 2013. "There are no meetings scheduled (with Inter) so far," said Caliendo. "I reiterate that Maicon will not leave Inter. I believe in respecting a contract and the fans have nothing to fear."

Private discussions

Club administrator Ernesto Paolillo has also stressed that Inter would be willing to meet Maicon to speak about his wage demands. "We will discuss this matter with the player in private and not in public," said Paolillo. "But there is already a contract that was signed by Maicon which satisfied both parts. "We could eventually analyse certain issues even though for us everything is very clear."
