Midfielder hails new manager

Midfielder David Pizarro believes Roma are responding to new manager Claudio Ranieri. Ranieri took charge at the Stadio Olimpico earlier this month following the resignation of Luciano Spalletti. Spalletti cited an inability to get his message across to the players as one of the reasons for his decision but Pizarro does not think Ranieri will have the same problem. "We have understood the trainer and his instructions. We are managing to put them into action," he told the Roma Channel. "He does get through to us. Besides, he is from Rome and even when he screams it's important for us." Roma's inconsistent start to the season continued with a 3-3 draw against Palermo on Wednesday night but Pizarro was satisfied with a battling display. "We are happy," he said. "We managed to get a point on a barely playable pitch, but the important thing was seeing a team that fought tooth and nail."
