Bremen striker is eyed by top Serie A side

Lazio coach Edy Reja has revealed they would welcome Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida to the club if he became available. The 26-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree an extension with the Bundesliga outfit. Reja is considering allowing young Czech striker Libor Kozak to leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer and views the Portugal striker as the ideal replacement. "Lazio have a great attack but if (Libo) Kozak leaves, we might find a solution by looking for a physically stronger player," Reja told Sky Italia.

Qualities

"Hugo Almeida has all the characteristics we are looking for in that respect. "He won't renew his contract with Werder Bremen and if he arrives it could be a great purchase for us. He's a player that I really like. "But we would have to consider if he will fit into our pay structure here as we are operating with a wage cap now. "The president is trying to keep everyone on the same level as not to create tensions in the dressing room and I think that is the right policy." Lazio's president Claudio Lotito added: "The club has total confidence in Reja, if the coach feels the need to strengthen the team, then we will help him, even if the market is not easy."
