Striker suffers torn cross-ligament of his right knee

Serie A outfit Atalanta have suffered a major blow in their hopes of finishing the season in the top half of the table with the news that striker Guido Marilungo has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old forward suffered a torn cross-ligament of his right knee and is now expected to be out of action for up to five or six months. The former Sampdoria star has scored four goals in 18 league appearances for the club this season, following their promotion from Serie B under head coach Stefano Colantuono. And Marilungo's injury is the second serious injury setback suffered by an Atalanta player this month after defender Daniele Capelli was recently sidelined for four months with a fractured knee cap. The Bergamaschi are 12th in the standings and host Bologna on Sunday morning.
