Brazilian ruled out for the rest of the year

Borussia Dortmund defender Dede will miss the rest of the year after suffering a knee injury on Saturday. The long-serving left-back was carried off the pitch in the second half of BVB's 3-2 win at Leverkusen and an examination by club doctors has diagnosed cruciate ligament damage. Dede had an operation on Monday and will not be back in action until February 2009 at the earliest. Better news for Dortmund is that goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, who limped out of Saturday's win with a gash in this thigh, is likely to be fit to face Energie Cottbus in two weeks time.
