Borussia Dortmund closed the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich back to eight points as they won 3-1 at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Marco Reus and Henrik Mkhitaryan netted either side of half-time for Dortmund before Raffael pulled one back for the home side.

Ilkay Gundogan then struck with 15 minutes to go to secure the three points as Thomas Tuchel's side stayed second behind Bayern Munich, who had been 11 points clear after winning 2-1 at Hamburg on Friday night.

Bayer Leverkusen missed the chance to move above Monchengladbach and into the top four as they drew 1-1 at Hoffenheim.

Jiloan Hamad put the home side the lead in the 40th minute, before Omer Toprak nicked a point for Leverkusen 15 minutes from time.

Mainz also failed to close the gap on the Champions League places as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Ingolstadt, with Moritz Hartmann's 41st-minute penalty the difference.

Stuttgart climbed away from the relegation zone as they came from behind to win 3-1 at Cologne. Anthony Modeste put the home side in front from the spot after 19 minutes, but Daniel Didavi levelled the game 17 minutes later and Timo Werner and Christian Gentner struck after the break to seal the win.
