Werder Bremen sack coach Viktor Skripnik after third straight Bundesliga defeat

Werder Bremen have sacked coach Viktor Skripnik after the club were left bottom of the Bundesliga following their third straight loss on Saturday.

Werder were beaten 4-1 by Borussia Monchengladbach and have yet to earn a point this season.

They have also lost to Bayern Munich and Augsburg while they crashed out of the DFB Cup in the first round to Sportfreunde Lotte, a third division team.

Under-23 coach Alexander Nouri will take over as interim boss.

"The preparation for the two home games against Mainz 05 and VfL Wolfsburg is taken over on Monday by U23 coach Alexander Nouri," Werder said in a statement.
