Michy Batshuayi starred as Borussia Dortmund strengthened their grip on a Champions League place with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

A Marco Russ own goal put Dortmund ahead after 12 minutes and the game remained that way until Luka Jovic equalised with 15 minutes left.

Chelsea loanee Batshuayi restored the hosts' advantage two minutes later only for Danny Blum to level in stoppage time.

But Batshauyi was not done, netting the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time to secure Dortmund's first league win in three games and leave them third in the Bundesliga.

Andre Schurrle headed an early chance wide for Dortmund before Russ turned a cross into his own net to put them in front.

Frankfurt's first equaliser came through Jovic, who powered in a header from distance only to see Batshauyi level moments later with a first-time finish from Christian Pulisic's pass.

Danny da Costa picked out Blum to seemingly snatch a point for the visitors, but Batshauyi curled home late on for his seventh goal since arriving on loan from Premier League champions Chelsea.

In the day's other game, RB Leipzig lost more ground in the race for Champions League qualification after playing out a goalless draw at Stuttgart.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side are now without a win in four Bundesliga outings.

It was never going to be easy at the Mercedes-Benz Arena as only runaway league leaders Bayern Munich have more home wins than Stuttgart this season.

The hosts were chasing a fifth straight victory and looked dangerous early on as Erik Thommy and Christian Gentner were both denied by good saves from Peter Gulacsi.

Bernardo and Naby Keita threatened for Leipzig, with the latter thwarted by a fine stop by Ron-Robert Zieler. The Stuttgart goalkeeper also produced another good save to keep out an effort from Timo Werner just before half-time.

Both teams had late chances to snatch a win as Daniel Ginczek headed the ball wide for the hosts before Willi Orban did likewise at the other end as the points were shared.
