Borussia Dortmund bounced back from their heavy defeat at Bayern Munich with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Stuttgart.
Thrashed 6-0 by the Bundesliga leaders last weekend, Peter Stoger's side responded on their return to the Westfalenstadion with victory on Sunday.
Stuttgart arrived on an eight-match unbeaten run but have not won at Dortmund since 2007 and it seemed destined that run would be extended when Christian Pulisic's cross deflected into the net to give the hosts the lead just before half-time.
Michy Batshuayi doubled the lead three minutes after the restart with a neat finish after a one-two with Nuri Sahin. It was his ninth goal since joining the club on loan from Chelsea in January.
Max Philipp made it 3-0 in the 59th minute, tucking away the rebound after his initial shot was saved by Ron-Robert Zieler.
Stuttgart almost pulled a goal back late on but Mario Gomez's long-range effort struck the crossbar.
The win moves Dortmund to within one point of second-placed Schalke following their surprise defeat at Hamburg on Saturday. Dortmund travel to Gelsenkirchen next weekend.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt and Hoffenheim had to settle for a share of the spoils at the Commerzbank Arena.
Both clubs are battling it out to secure European football and Frankfurt moved into the fourth Champions League slot after the teams played out a 1--1 draw. Hoffenheim are three points behind in seventh.
Luka Jovic's strike on 49 minutes put Frankfurt in front but they were not in the lead for long as Bayern Munich loanee Serge Gnabry drew Hoffenheim level seven minutes later.
