Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez has been ruled out of action until after the Bundesliga's winter break.
Germany's player of the year has been struggling with a spleen problem since mid-November and has now been forced onto the sidelines.
Gomez will miss the UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona and the Bundesliga dates against Wolfsburg and Arminia Bielefeld.
Stuttgart coach Armin Veh is hopeful that the forward will be back in action when the fixtures resume in February.
Germany international Gomez has scored seven goals in 12 Bundesliga games this term.
