Dane wants first-team place

Schalke striker Soren Larsen has publicly vented his anger at his lack of playing time with the Royal Blues. The Denmark international was given a rare Bundesliga start by coach Mirko Slomka, but was substituted for out-of-form Kevin Kuranyi in the second half of the 1-0 win over Rostock. After the match Slomka confirmed that Kuranyi would start Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona, prompting an angry reaction from Larsen.

Unhappy

"I was substituted too early. Why doesn't the coach let me play a whole game for a change?" Larsen fumed. "We all know that Kevin will be starting again in Barcelona. "Even if I had scored two goals today I wouldn't be playing on Wednesday. I know what my boss is like." Kuranyi, who missed three good chances after coming on against Rostock, refused to comment on his current lack of form after the game.
