Stuttgart looking for a striker to replace Gomez

Borussia Dortmund have rejected reports that striker Nelson Valdez is on his way to join Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart. Mario Gomez's departure to Bayern Munich has left Stuttgart needing to bring in a proven goalscorer for next season. Hoffenheim's unsettled forward Demba Ba has been linked with a move to Stuttgart, with Valdez also rumoured to be a target. However, Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc is not looking to sell the Paraguayan, who only signed a new contract until 2012 in April. Of the rumours that Valdez is on the verge of signing for Stuttgart, Zorc told Westfaliche Rundschau: "I am not aware of anything like this." Meanwhile, Stuttgart have signed teenage striker Alessandro Riedle on a two-year contract from Swiss club Grasshopper Zurich. Riedle is the son of former Germany and Liverpool striker Karl-Heinz Riedle and Stuttgart are confident the teenager has a bright future in the game. General manager Horst Heldt told the club's official website: "I am happy and delighted that Alessandro and his father decided to agree to our proposal. "Alessandro is a talented striker and I am sure he is going to make big progress at our club."
