Hanno Balitsch has rejoined Bayer Leverkusen after deciding to part company with Hannover.
The 29-year-old announced his decision to move on this summer shortly after helping Hannover narrowly avoid relegation out of the Bundesliga.
The midfielder is keen to take on a new challenge and feels a return to Leverkusen, where he spent three years before moving to Mainz in 2005, will provide him with the perfect platform.
"Hanno Balitsch is a dynamic player and a battler who will certainly give us more stability in midfield," said Leverkusen's director of sport Rudi Voller on his club's
official website.
"This will be very important for us both domestically and in Europe next season."
Great story
Balitsch was able to force his way into the German national side during his last spell with Leverkusen, earning his one and only cap to date, and hopes to be able to repeat that success this time around.
"This is a great story for me and another big sporting challenge," he said.
"I am really looking forward to fighting for my place in a strong team and to play in Europe."
He becomes Leverkusen's fourth signing of a busy summer, with Sidney Sam, Domagoj Vida and Zvonko Pamic already known to be heading for the BayArena.
