On-loan St Pauli defender Bastian Oczipka has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a broken ankle.

Left-back's broken ankle will require surgery

On-loan St Pauli defender Bastian Oczipka could have played his last match for the club after being ruled out for the rest of the season due to a broken ankle. The left-back had been a regular for last season's Bundesliga 2 runners-up this season, having joined from Bayer Leverkusen on a deal until this summer. But Oczipka sustained his injury in Saturday's defeat at Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund and is now set to undergo surgery. St Pauli manager Holger Stanislawski told Deutsche Presseagentur: "This is extremely bad for the lad. Oczipka had played marvellously this season and enjoyed steady progress. "I know he is a strong character and I am sure he is going to fight back from this." Oczipka said: "I need to get over this news. At the moment I am really not feeling well."
