Northern Ireland striker Liam Boyce has admitted he would consider a move away from Werder Bremen to safeguard his place in the national team.
Boyce made his debut for Northern Ireland in the defeat to Scotland in February and made his competitive bow in last week's Euro 2012 draw with Slovenia.
The highly-rated 19-year-old joined Werder Bremen from Cliftonville for an undisclosed fee last September after scoring 19 goals in his debut season in the Irish League.
Boyce admits it took him a while to get to grips with life in Germany but he is now targeting promotion to the Bremen first team after establishing himself in Nigel Worthington's plans with Northern Ireland
"Being called up to the full international squad has given me the desire to keep my place in the squad and to get more appearances under my belt," Boyce told
skysports.com.
"Being around the senior squad has given me a real boost and I have more determination than ever to repay Mr Worthington's faith in me.

"Making the Northern Ireland squad and getting minutes on the pitch against Slovenia and Scotland is a bonus for me and will help me develop my club career.
"Maybe it will make the club [Bremen] sit up and take notice about me more quickly now that I have played in the Euro 2012 qualifiers with Northern Ireland and it could help me progress to the first team faster than I expected."
Boyce insists he is enjoying his experience at Bremen, but that he would consider a loan or permanent move back to the UK for regular first-team action if he does not get a chance at the Bundesliga club.
"In terms of my own development my time at Werder Bremen has changed both the physical and mental aspects of my game.
"The game in Germany is technically superior to anything I have ever experienced and I have become much more confident in my own ability to play at a higher level.
"Being brought into the national set up has just enhanced my confidence and I'm now keen to progress in my football career further and raise my profile to keep myself in Mr. Worthingtons thoughts.
"If that means coming back to England or Europe to achieve that then so be it."
