Werder Bremen captain Torsten Frings has been offered the chance to move onto the club's coaching staff at the end of the season after it was decided he would not be offered a new playing contract.
The 34-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs has admitted that a new deal is not possible due to "sporting and economic" reasons.
But Frings could become a coach at the Weserstadion and he will have the opportunity to qualify for his neccesary badges.
"We know that he is disappointed. I can understand it," said Allofs.
Decision
He added: "Werder Bremen will offer him a job to train as a coach and to acquire the necessary license.
"He will give us his response in the coming days.
"We will make it possible for him to become a coach, but we will also accept his decision if he decides to continue his career at another club."
Frings told Bremen newspaper Kreiszeitung Syke: "I have to accept the decision.
"Too bad, I would have preferred to finish after a more successful season."
