Bayern completed a remarkable treble in 2012-13, winning the Champions League crown on top of the domestic double of Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles.
Since then they have strengthened further, adding Jan Kirchoff, Mario Gotze and Thiago to a squad now coached by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, the successor to Jupp Heynckes.
Such an array of talent has led to speculation certain players will find playing time hard to come by but Sammer insists the number of matches means everyone will get the chance to impress.
His words came with a warning, though, as he told Kicker: "The days of a starting 11 are over.
"Our coach will handle it in a way that everyone gets enough chances. But if an individual puts himself first he will find trouble."
Bayern have looked in ominous form in their recent warm-up games and added another piece of silverware on Sunday by winning the Telekom Cup thanks to a 5-1 demolition of Borussia Monchengladbach, their opening-day opponents when the Bundesliga returns on August 9.
"We need this squad," added Sammer.
"The large squad of 2012 was a response to the previous year. And everyone benefited as the result."
