Bundesliga club Hannover 96 have completed the signing of Miiko Albornoz from Swedish champions Malmo FF.

The 23-year-old full-back impressed in Malmo’s successful Allsvenskan title bid and was rewarded with a place in Chile’s squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

Hannover sporting director Dirk Hufner travelled to South America so Albornoz could pen a three-year contract with the club and believes the highly-rated wing-back will be a success in the German top flight.

“He is a very talented player,” Hufner told the club’s official website. “The fact he was selected in the World Cup squad confirms his potential.”

Albornoz’s arrival at the HDI Arena means the club have ended their pursuit of FC Augsburg defender Matthias Ostrzolek, who they believe has been over-priced by their Bundesliga rivals.

As far as I am concerned there have been offers for my services from other clubs. And I definitely want to leave FC Augsburg this summer.

Former Germany U21 international Ostrzolek is under contract until June 2015 but is eager to leave the SGL-Arena, with German reports claiming fellow Bundesliga club Hamburger SV in discussions with the player.

“As far as I am concerned there have been offers for my services from other clubs,” Ostrzolek told BILD. “And I definitely want to leave FC Augsburg this summer.

More from Summer Transfer Window 2014

“Back in September I admitted to the club that I will not sign a new deal beyond my current contract.

“They said they would then sell me this summer as they do not want to kick off a season with a player heading for a Bosman situation.”

Another Germany age-group graduate on the move is Lasse Sobiech, who will leave Hamburger SV to join St Pauli on a 12-month loan.

The 23-year-old centre-back joins his parent club’s city rivals after struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular, but there is no option to buy in the deal.
