The Holland international extended his contract until 2015 during the winter break but the Royal Blues' recent struggles - they have won just two of their last five Bundesliga games - have put European qualification in jeopardy.
Former Ajax and Real Madrid star Huntelaar insists, however, he will be in Gelsenkirchen next season.
"I am definitely staying," he told Kicker magazine.
"I feel great here and in the Bundesliga.
"I've never experienced a better atmosphere anywhere else."
With four games of the season remaining, Schalke currently occupy fourth place, which would earn them a place in the Champions League play-offs.
However, defeat to Hamburg on Sunday could see them drop as low as eighth in the table, such is the tight battle for places in Europe next season.
"Not playing in Europe at all would be a catastrophe for us players and for the club," he added.
"But I don't think it will come to that. I am totally focused on fourth place."
Huntelaar has been unable to help Schalke in recent weeks with first an eye infection and then a knee injury keeping him sidelined.
However, he is in line for a return at the weekend.
"I have taken full part in two training sessions and am very, very optimistic," said last season's Bundesliga top scorer with 29 goals.
