Hannover have signed Middlesbrough defender Emmanuel Pogatetz and goalkeeper Markus Miller from Kalrsruhe.
Austria skipper Pogatetz, who was signed by Steve McClaren at the Riverside Stadium in 2005 from Bayer Leverkusen, has come to the end of his contract at Boro and decided to make the move back to the country where he started his senior career.
The 27-year-old has joined the club on a three-year deal.
Miller, who leaves Karlsruhe after seven years at the club, has also signed a three-year contract, putting pressure on rookie goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz, who was put into the first team following the death of Robert Enke.
"Emanuel is an experienced player who can also play on the left of the defence," said Hanover coach Mirko Slomka.
"He will expand our options in defence greatly.
"Markus Miller is an experienced and quick-reacting goalkeeper and he will keep Florian Fromlowitz on his toes."
