Stoke defender Philipp Wollscheid, who is on loan at Wolfsburg, has been dropped and sent to train alone for reportedly criticising a coach.
The 27-year-old joined the Bundesliga club at the start of this season and was reunited with Dieter Hecking, the coach who gave him his first break in the game at FC Nurnberg, but Hecking was sacked after six games.
The terms of Wollscheid's loan agreement stipulated that a £5m permanent transfer to Wolfsburg would be triggered should the defender appear in half of the club's competitive fixtures.
However, he has not started any matches for new boss Valerien Ismael, making the bench for just one fixture, and has been ordered to train alone after reportedly criticising a coach.
"He's currently training individually," Ismael told German newspaper Wolfsburg Nachrichten.
"It's one of those things that happens. Philipp has apologised and we have had words with him."
The 27-year-old's Stoke contract runs until the summer of 2018.
