PEC Zwolle moved to the top of the Eredivisie with a 2-0 win at home to FC Twente on Saturday.

Youness Mokhtar opened the scoring in the 34th minute and Bram van Polen made the result safe with a 79th-minute penalty as PEC moved on to seven points from three games.

Twente, in contrast, are yet to register a point.

Vitesse Arnhem missed the chance to move into first place as they lost 2-1 at home to AZ Alkmaar, the visitors joining their opponents among six sides on six points.

Wouter Weghorst scored both goals for AZ, the opener after four minutes and the winner after 82, Tim Matavz having levelled for Vitesse in the 69th minute.

ADO Den Haag's miserable start to the season continued as they slumped to a third straight loss, going down 2-1 at home to Heerenveen.

A second-half brace from Morten Thorsby put the visitors in command, with Bjorn Johnsen pulling one back for ADO.
