Suk Hyun-jun makes the switch to be reunited with Pieter Huistra

FC Groningen have signed 19-year-old striker Suk Hyun-jun from Ajax on a free transfer. The South Korean has agreed a two-year deal with the option of a further two years, should he prove a success at the Euroborg. Groningen reached an agreement with Ajax on Monday and were impressed with the teenager's attitude ahead of the move. "He had several options, but Suk thinks he can aid his development here," Technical manager Henk Veldmate told the club's official website. "He understands Dutch really well and that's quite impressive for an Asian player. " Suk has worked with Groningen first team boss Pieter Huistra with Ajax reserves, and was considered a hot prospect when he joined the Dutch giants in 2010. He failed to make the grade, however, and becomes Groningen's third signing of the summer after the arrivals of Emil Johansson and Kees Kwakman from Molde and FC Augsburg respectively.
