FC Groningen have rejected an offer from Fenerbahce for Swedish defender Andreas Granqvist.

Dutch club want to keep Swede until end of season at least

FC Groningen have rejected an offer from Fenerbahce for Swedish defender Andreas Granqvist. The 25-year-old has been in good form for the Dutch outfit, who are currently in fourth position in the Eredivisie and are challenging for a possible UEFA Champions League place. Granqvist spent a brief spell with Wigan from 2007 to 2008, playing 14 games before moving to Helsingborgs on loan and an eventual move to Groningen. It is thought that the club are willing to do business, however it will only be at the right price due to the Swedish international being a key part of their surprise ascent up the table and hope to keep him until the end of the season. Granqvist, however, appeared keen on the move, stating that he was flattered to be linked with the Turkish giants. "It's very flattering that they want me and that Groningen want to keep me until the end of the season," the player told Swedish newspaper Sportbladet.
