PSV Eindhoven hammered Roda JC, FC Twente made it two from two, but Feyenoord were held by Heerenveen.

PSV bounce back, Twente win again and Feyenoord held

PSV Eindhoven recovered from their opening-weekend defeat to RKC Waalwijk in style with a 5-0 home mauling of Roda JC. PSV, who finished third last season, went down 3-2 at RKC despite taking an early lead through Jeremain Lens, but they had no intention of suffering the same fate against Roda. Once again they went ahead early on, Kevin Strootman heading home in the 13th minute, but this time they added four second-half goals to complete the demolition. Ola Toivonen, back after a one-match ban, made it 2-0 in the 49th minute following a corner and it was 3-0 in the 79th minute when Lens' shot deflected in off visiting defender Abel Tamata. That went down as an own goal but Lens got his name on the scoresheet three minutes later when he slotted in from a tight angle, and PSV substitute Georgino Wijnaldum wrapped up the scoring in the 88th minute following a good team move. FC Twente sit top of the table on six points after beating NAC Breda 1-0 away, Leroy Fer scoring the only goal of the game in the 51st minute when he headed home Dusan Tadic's corner from close range. Fer should have made it 2-0 with another header moments later, but that was spurned and Twente needed to survive a couple of scares late on before sealing the points. Feyenoord were unable to make it two wins from two themselves as they played out a 1-1 home draw with Heerenveen. Heerenveen had looked set to take all three points when Filip Djuricic put them ahead with a 77th-minute penalty after he had been brought down by Joris Mathijsen inside the area - a challenge that also saw the Holland international sent off. However, the 10 men of Feyenoord drew level six minutes later to claim a point, Ruben Schaken running through the visiting defence before firing past Kristoffer Nordfeldt. FC Utrecht, who lost to Feyenoord last time out, picked up their first points of the campaign with a 3-1 comeback victory at VVV Venlo. VVV took a 26th-minute lead when Yannick Wildschut netted from the edge of the box, but Utrecht captain Nana Asare drew his side level two minutes before the break with a well-struck effort from 12 yards out. Utrecht needed just four minutes of the second half to take the lead as Cedric Van der Gun netted following a goalmouth scramble at a corner, and the visitors secured the points in the 62nd minute when Adam Sarota capitalised on a mistake from Maya Yoshida to send Alexander Gerndt through to score In Saturday's other game, Vitesse Arnhem were 1-0 victors at promoted Zwolle after the home side missed a last-minute penalty. In a tense encounter that produced little in the way of goalmouth action, the match-winner came in the 63rd minute when Renato Ibarra picked up a pass from Marco van Ginkel on the right side of the box and drilled a shot past home goalkeeper Leon ter Wielen. Zwolle spurned a great chance to claim a point though when Bart van Hintum blazed a stoppage-time penalty over the crossbar.
