Sky Sports will be screening two mouth-watering Capital One Cup third-round ties in September, with Aston Villa hosting Birmingham City and Tottenham Hotspur entertaining Arsenal.

Both clashes will be shown live next month, with the Second City derby taking place at 7.45pm on Tuesday September 22.

Gary Rowett's men had few problems beating Gillingham 2-0 in the second round on Tuesday night to set up a meeting with Villa.

However, the Premier League side needed extra time before seeing off the stubborn resistance of League Two Notts County 5-3.

And 24 hours later Spurs and Arsenal will go head to head in the north London derby at White Hart Lane, a match that is also kicking off at 7.45pm.

Mauricio Pochettino's team last won the trophy seven years ago, beating Arsenal 6-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals, including a 5-1 win over their arch rivals in the second-leg clash at the Lane.

Spurs will also be looking to go one better than last season when they made it all the way to Wembley Stadium, only to lose to Chelsea 2-0 in the final.

The two sides last went head to head in the competition in 2011, also in the third round, when they drew 1-1 at the Lane, only for Arsenal to emerge victorious 4-1 after extra time.

But despite going on to reach that season's final, the Gunners were on the end of an upset as Birmingham beat Arsene Wenger's side 2-1.

So make sure you tune into Sky Sports on September 22 and 23 to watch these two ties…
