Apoel Nicosia hold a 2-0 first-leg lead after they saw off the challenge of Slavia Prague during the Champions League qualifiers on Tuesday.

The Cyprian side raced out of the blocks and were out of sight within 10 minutes thanks to goals from Igor de Camargo and Efstathios Aloneftis.

Former Belgium striker De Camargo flicked home Lorenzo Ebecilio's corner at the near post after only two minutes.

Apoel, who were knocked out by FC Copenhagen at this stage last term, then doubled that advantage when Aloneftis superbly chipped the ball over Slavia goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka from 18 yards.

Copenhagen face an uphill battle in their bid to make this season's Champions League, however, after they were beaten 1-0 in Azerbaijan by Qarabag FK.

The only goal of the game came after a swift counter-attack after 25 minutes when Mahir Madatov was on hand to convert a rebound after Dino Ndlovu's shot hit the post.

Elsewhere, Young Boys defender Kasim Nuhu scored an own goal in added time to hand CSKA Moscow a 1-0 win while Steaua Bucharest, who had Mihai Pintilii sent off late on, picked up a 0-0 draw at Sporting Lisbon.
