Carlos Tevez recognises his future at Manchester City rests in the hands of manager Roberto Mancini.

Rebellious Argentine gives little away in the wake of Mancini bust-up

Carlos Tevez recognises his future at Manchester City rests in the hands of manager Roberto Mancini but claims he has maintained a professional attitude despite refusing to play against Bayern Munich. The Argentina international was involved in a row with Mancini in the dugout at the Allianz Arena after he told his boss he would not enter the match, in which City were outclassed in a 2-0 defeat, as a substitute. Mancini has since said Tevez has no future at City and it would seem unlikely there is any way back for the former Manchester United man, who has handed in two transfer requests since last December. The 27-year-old's unrest has long been attributed to family issues and he was close to returning to Corinthians this summer in a move which would have relocated him to his native South America but the deal did not materialise. Tevez has since been stripped of City captaincy and has mainly been a substitute, however, Mancini has previously always left the door open for last season's joint top scorer in the Premier League.

Opinion

That now seems an unlikely scenario but the striker was not giving much away after the defeat in Germany and when asked if he was finished at City for refusing to play, he told Sky Sports HD2 via an interpreter: "I have been professional during all the time here. "Last season I was the best scorer and put my opinion through that I wanted to leave because of family reasons. "But I keep trying to do my best." The aftermath will be dominated by Tevez and assistant manager David Platt insists Mancini is the right man to deal with it. "We are not going to lie. What happened happened," said the former England skipper. "Roberto will sleep on it and look at it and dealt with it in the way he sees fit."
