Croatia coach Slaven Bilic has slammed England for being 'too confident' in their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.
Some suggested England had been fortunate to avoid any major European footballing nations after being drawn in Group E alongside the likes of Russia, Croatia, Israel and Macedonia.
And Steve McClaren's side were tipped to comfortably qualify for next summer's finals in Austria and Switzerland.
However, England have made hard work of their campaign and now have to hope Israel can record a positive result against Russia and then target three points against Croatia four days later in order to progress.
Cruise
Bilic believes England have only themselves to blame for their current situation and has accused McClaren's men of under-estimating teams in their group.
"Maybe England's approach was just a bit too self-confident," Bilic said.
"It's not easy to play in Russia or easy to play Macedonia. And it is very difficult to play in Tel Aviv.
"So maybe England were expecting to cruise the group but it's a very difficult group."
Confident
Croatia currently top the group and require only one point against Macedonia in Skopje today to qualify, although an improbable defeat would open another door for England.
However, Bilic insists that - even if his side have qualified - they will travel to Wembley on Wednesday with their sights set on a win in what could be a fixture which decides England's fate.
"There is no way if we get the result we want in Skopje that we will be indifferent," Bilic added. "My players are going to England to represent our country and win.
"There are very few games you play for the national team and not to put in 100 per cent is out of the question. You just can't do it. I am confident my side can beat England."
