Podolski and Lahm available for Austria clash

Germany have played down injury concerns over key duo Lukas Podolski and Philipp Lahm. Podolski netted his third goal of Euro 2008 in the 2-1 defeat to Croatia on Thursday but damaged his ankle and had been doubtful. Defender Lahm also took a knock to his calf muscle in Klagenfurt but team manager Oliver Bierhoff has insisted that both players will be fit to face Austria. Bayern Munich defender Marcell Jansen looks set to miss out with a shoulder injury but his place was under threat anyway after being at fault for Croatia's opener. "With regard to Lahm and Podolski, there is no problem, they will be able to play against Austria," said Bierhoff. "The only concern relates to Marcell and it looks like he will miss out, but he should be able to play again in the tournament." Schalke defender Heiko Westermann has picked up a hand injury but will be available for selection. Germany must avoid defeat against Austria on Monday to book their place in the last eight.
