The 50 England goals that broke the record

The United striker scored five times in eight England appearances to overtake Sir Bobby Charlton as the country's all-time top scorer with 50 goals.

He also captained Roy Hodgson's men to European Championship qualification with a 100 per cent record - just the sixth side to ever do so.
