England will play friendlies against France and Spain as part of a reciprocal arrangement with both nations, according to Sky sources..

No date has been set for either match but it is believed one of the first games in charge for the new England boss will be against Spain at Wembley in November followed by a trip to France next March.

A three-man panel at the Football Association is actively seeking a successor to Roy Hodgson, who quit following the national team's shock Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland.

Hodgson's side lost 2-0 to Spain in Alicante on November 13 last year, the night of the terror attacks on Paris, and four days later beat France by the same scoreline at Wembley.

England kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Slovakia on September 4 before facing two matches in four days against Malta and Slovenia at the start of October.
