England's future? A profile of the Under-17s involved in Germany victory

England's senior team might have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently, but the Under-17s showed the future might be bright by thumping Germany 8-1 on Monday.

Among the scorers in the Croatia Cup rout were Liverpool's Rhian Brewster, Chelsea's George McEachran, Phil Foden of Manchester City and Manchester United's Angel Gomes.

Here's a look at all the players involved in the match for England...

Goalkeeper: Curtis Anderson (Manchester City, 16 years old)

A regular for England at Under-17 level, and over six-foot tall, Anderson was signed by City as an 11-year-old from Blackpool. Now 16, he was named goalkeeper of the tournament as City won the Cayman Airway U15s competition last season.

Defender: Kane Wilson (West Brom, 16 years old)

The full-back, who made his first-team debut earlier this season as a substitute against Northampton, has been tipped for a "bright future" by West Brom stalwart Chris Brunt. "He wants to learn, works hard around the place, gets his head down and showed a great attitude over pre-season," Brunt said.

Defender: Brooklyn Lyons-Foster (Tottenham, 15 years old)

Lyons-Foster recently scored as England U17s beat Belgium in a friendly.  He played the first half of the win over Germany and is the younger brother of Kodi, who has played for Spurs and Aston Villa as a youngster.

Defender: Joel Latibeaudiere (Manchester City, 16 years old)

A tall centre-back who is composed on the ball, Latibeaudiere was part of the City side that finished runners-up in the FA Youth Cup last season. He was named man of the match as City beat Manchester United 2-0 in the U18 Premier League in September.

Defender: Jonathan Panzo (Chelsea, 15 years old)

A physically imposing defender, Panzo captained England at U16 level and has been involved with Chelsea U18s this season.

Midfielder: Phil Foden (Manchester City, 16 years old)

Foden joined City at U9 level and committed his future to the club this summer by signing a four-year professional deal. He has scored goals from midfield for England U16s and netted for City U18s in wins against Liverpool and Manchester United this season.

Midfielder: George McEachran (Chelsea, 16 years old)

George is the younger brother of Josh, who left Chelsea to join Brentford in 2015 after several loan spells. He is left-footed, has been with Chelsea since U8 level and has played on both wings after largely starting out in midfield.

Midfield: Angel Gomes (Manchester United, 16 years old)

United academy coach Nicky Butt says Gomes is a player the club have "massive hopes for". Gomes was signed by United as a 13-year-old and made his U18 debut a year later. He is an attacking midfielder with good close control and dribbling skills.

Forward: Jadon Sancho (Manchester City, 16 years old)

After joining City from Watford in 2015 for a fee that could rise to £500,000, Sancho has risen up through the ranks and recently scored for the U19s against Borussia Monchengladbach. He also scored an impressive solo goal as England U17s beat Croatia 5-0 in their first game of the Croatia Cup.

Forward: Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea, 16 years old)

Hudson-Odoi is eligible for both England and Ghana but so far has played only for the Three Lions at youth level. He also made his Chelsea U18 debut in August.

Forward: Rhian Brewster (Liverpool, 16 years old)

Brewster has impressed for Liverpool's U18s this season and was one of the stars of the Croatia Cup with five goals in three appearances for England. He joined Liverpool at the age of 15 from Chelsea and played in a behind-closed-doors friendly for the first team against Huddersfield in September.

Used subs

Defender: Marcel Lavinier (Chelsea, 15 years old)

Lavinier came on at half-time in the win over Germany and is expected to get minutes for the Chelsea academy side this season.

Defender: Lewis Gibson (Newcastle, 16 years old)

The defender, whose older brother Liam also plays for Newcastle, made his England debut for the U17s in August.

Midfielder: Alex Denny (Everton, 16 years old)

An energetic and skilful midfielder, Denny was part of the Everton U18 side that won the Dallas Cup earlier this year.

Midfielder: Emile Smith-Rowe (Arsenal, 16 years old)

The left-sided player reportedly turned down interest from Barcelona and Tottenham to remain with Arsenal. At the age of 15, he became the first player to be born this century to represent the Gunners at U18 level.

Attacking midfielder: Ian Poveda-Ocampo (Manchester City, 16 years old)

Despite his young age, Poveda-Ocampo has already played for Barcelona, Arsenal and Brentford, scoring a six-minute hat-trick with the Bees in the Milk Cup. Now at Man City, he is a tricky player who is also eligible to play for Colombia.

Forward: Danny Loader (Reading, 16 years old)

A strong striker who featured for Reading U18s at the age of just 15, Loader also made his U21 debut at the end of last season.
