The Football Association has played down reports that up to 5,000 supporters were unable to get into Wembley before kick-off of Monday's game against Slovakia.
Sky Sports News has spoken to the FA, which said the figure of late entrants was in the hundreds, rather than thousands, and caused by a number of factors.
Chief among them was an issue with tickets being displayed on supporters' mobile phones, which meant they had to queue twice - once at the ticket office and then to get into the ground.
The FA also said there was a surge of late arrivals at Wembley, while enhanced security checks because of ongoing terror threats were in place which further clogged up the turnstiles.
They confirmed all supporters were inside by 8.05pm, some 20 minutes after kick-off, but urged fans to ensure they turn up early for future games at the national stadium.
A crowd of 67,823 was recorded for the Group F clash, which saw England come from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
England will qualify for the 2018 World Cup through the European Qualifiers if they win their next game, which also takes place at Wembley when they face Slovenia on October 5.
