Northern Ireland reach record high position in latest FIFA rankings

Northern Ireland capatain Steve Davis (l) leads the celebrations

Northern Ireland have moved up two places to their highest position of 26th in the latest FIFA world rankings.

Michael O'Neill's side, who have been grouped with Germany, Ukraine and Poland at this year's European Championship, lie two places below Wales, who slipped seven spots to 24th.

The Republic of Ireland, who like Wales and Northern Ireland are looking forward to Euro 2016, are down two positions to 31st.

England have dropped one place to 10th, despite the recent 3-2 victory over world champions Germany in Berlin, while Scotland, the only home nation not heading to France this summer, are up five to 40th.
