'English' football consigned to history, Spain boss Del Bosque says

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque believes English football has no "authentic style" anymore.

GuardianDel Bosque has won the Champions League as a manager on two occasions with Real Madrid and helped Spain to World Cup glory in 2010 before guiding them to the European Championship title two years later.

The 64-year-old, who is set to step down as Spain manager after Euro 2016, believes the influx of foreign players into the English game has a resulted in a loss of national identity.

"There is no 'English football' anymore I don't think. No authentic style," Del Bosque told The Guardian.

"Because of the mix of different styles, the arrival of players from abroad makes it impossible to maintain an 'English football'.

"I imagine there are still some idiosyncrasies at English clubs, teams that are very English, but on the pitch it's difficult to guess where teams are from.
