Former Manchester United winger Nani has backed the return of Paul Pogba to Old Trafford

Paul Pogba is a "great" player worth investing in, according to the Frenchman's former Manchester United team-mate Nani.

Nani accepts today's transfer fees are in a different stratosphere to before and believes United's potential acquisition of Pogba will be of huge benefit to the club going forward.

"Pogba is a great there are no doubts about that, but the numbers today are different [in terms of] the way the clubs buy the players.

"I don't want to talk about numbers but the player is a fantastic player and any team who buys him will be very well set."

Nani's eight-year stint with Manchester United ended in 2015 when he left the Red Devils for Turkish side Fenerbahce, before the Portugal international joined Valencia after helping his country win Euro 2016.

"He [Mourinho] said a long time ago his dream is to represent United so everyone was expecting one day he would become Manchester United's coach," Nani said.

"Now is that time so let's see how he is going to do. He is an ambitious coach who always wants to win - 100 per cent he will prepare a team that will be much better than in the last years and will try and win titles."
