Newcastle's Rolando Aarons was arrested and bailed after an incident in a city centre nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The winger - who is currently out injured - was one of nine people arrested at trendy Livello nightclub.
The 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "Police are appealing for information after a disturbance at Livello night club in Newcastle on Sunday, October 9.
"At around 3am, officers attended the scene where a large altercation had broken out in the club.
"Nine people have been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.
"One man attended hospital with facial injuries."
