Scunthorpe returned to the top of League One with a 3-2 home win over Port Vale.

Vale led twice at Glanford Park, first through on-loan striker Tyler Walker, who scored his second in two games since joining from Nottingham Forest.

Josh Morris converted a penalty to level before half-time but JJ Hooper restored the lead just short of the hour-mark.

Ivan Toney, who signed on loan from Newcastle earlier this month, then bagged his first for the Irons to draw level again before Tom Hopper scored the winner late on.

Elsewhere, Northampton put a stop to a barren run of five straight defeats by thumping struggling Coventry 3-0 at Sixfields, thanks to a hat-trick from on-loan Crystal Palace striker Keshi Anderson.

After the game was abandoned for a time because of a pitch invasion by protesting Coventry fans, Anderson scored all three in the second half; the first a close-range finish inside the near post, the second from a scramble at a corner and the third on the breakaway late on.

Peterborough suffered a blow to their play-off hopes by getting thrashed 4-0 at home by MK Dons. Youngster Chuks Aneke scored twice late on after Harvey Barnes and Kieran Agard had scored just after half-time.

Charlton shocked Bolton with a 2-1 victory at the Macron Stadium, after the hosts had gone ahead in the first half through Zach Clough. Patrick Bauer equalised for the Addicks before Nathan Byrne notched what turned out to be the winner in first-half stoppage time.

Bristol Rovers kept their play-off hopes rolling with a 1-0 home win over struggling Swindon; Billy Bodin's first-half goal proving enough to keep the Pirates eighth.

Bradford City stay fifth after securing a 2-1 victory at Oldham. It looked destined for a draw until Rory McArdle struck with the winner with less than 15 minutes to go.

Bury drew 3-3 in a thriller at home to Walsall, but the hosts needed a stoppage-time goal through Tom Soares to earn a point, despite racing into a 2-0 half-time lead through James Vaughan and Reece Brown.

Fleetwood Town and Southend, and Gillingham and Shrewsbury drew 1-1, while AFC Wimbledon's clash with Rochdale was postponed.
