Harry Redknapp heavily backed to become new QPR manager following Mark Hughes' sacking.

Harry Redknapp strong favourite to be the next QPR manager

Sky Bet have suspended betting on who will replace Mark Hughes as QPR manager after Harry Redknapp was heavily backed for the post. Punters ploughed in to Mark Hughes to be the next boss to depart at 1/3 and Redknapp to take over at Loftus Road at as short as 4/11 on Friday morning. The significance of the stakes prompted the online betting firm to suspend betting on both markets before the news was confirmed that Hughes had been sacked. Hughes had been strong favourite in their 'Next Manager To Go' Market since QPR's winless start was extended with last weekend's defeat to Southampton, which saw the Hoops cut to 4/6 for relegation having started the season at 4/1. The developments contradict suggestions that Redknapp was set to become Ukraine's next manager, which was a 4/1 bet at time of the market being suspended. Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "All the money pointed towards Redknapp being handed the reins at Loftus Road, with the size of the bets forcing us to suspended betting on both markets. "We'd assumed that their defeat to Southampton would have prompted an immediate decision, going odds-on that he would be gone by Monday morning, but the board have finally made their move."
