There have been many high-profile signings in the Premier League this summer.
But as the season has now reached the five-game mark, which ones have played the best?
With the help of the EA Sports Player Performance Index, the official player rating index of the Barclays Premier League, we pick out some of the best performing signings from the summer transfer window.
Dimitri Payet is the top performing summer signing
West Ham's £10.7m signing from Marseille has performed the best out of all the Premier League summer transfers so far, according to the index.
Payet scored early in both halves against Newcastle on Monday night to take his goal tally for the season to three. The Frenchman has an index rating of 165, which makes him currently the fifth highest performing player across the entire league.
After the Newcastle game, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic admitted the 28-year-old was his No 1 transfer target for this summer.
He told Sky Sports: "He is the player I really wanted from the start and hoped he would come [but] I didn't believe it would happen."
Judging by the index, there could be a lot more to come from the creative midfielder this season.
Bakary Sako and Andre Ayew could be the bargains of the summer
Looking at the rest of the top 10 summer signings, Andre Ayew and Bakary Sako look to be two of the bargains of the transfer window so far. Sako ranks second and Ayew fourth out of all summer signings, with £49m winger Raheem Sterling in third place.
Ayew joined Swansea on a free transfer after his contract expired at former club Marseille. The Ghana international ranks a single point above Manchester City's David Silva, highlighting just how well the 25-year-old is adapting to life in the Premier League.
Playing predominantly on the right wing for Garry Monk's side, Ayew has three goals and one assist in six league games this season.
Bakary Sako was playing League One football at Wolves two seasons ago, now he ranks as the ninth best performing player in the Premier League, so says the index.
The physically imposing Malian winger has started three of Crystal Palace's games this season, scoring twice. Sako joined the club on a free transfer after he let his contract run out at Wolves, and already looks to be one to watch out for.
Leicester and Crystal Palace recruited well
In the top 10 player performance index for summer signings, half of the players are from Crystal Palace (three) and Leicester (two).
Crystal Palace's Sako, Yohan Cabaye and Alex McCarthy rank second, fifth and seventh, while Leicester have Shinji Okazaki and Robert Huth in eighth and ninth respectively.
It seems as though Alan Pardew and Claudio Ranieri have recruited well in the summer, introducing players who have been able to make an instant impacts.
If the transfer fees of these players are combined, Leicester have spent £10.5m on their signings and Crystal Palace £16.5m. The shrewd signings could perhaps reflect why the clubs currently occupy two of the top six places in the Premier League table.
