MLS round-up: Late Sounders strike denies LA Galaxy

A late strike from Seattle Sounders' Chad Barrett denied LA Galaxy three points at CenturyLink Field as their clash ended 1-1 on Sunday evening.

Robbie Keane opened the scoring for the Galaxy in the 36th minute, slotting past Sounders 'keeper Stefan Frei after a mistake from Zach Scott.

The Galaxy moved past FC Dallas to top the Western Conference with the result, clinching a play-off spot in the process, while the Sounders sit in fifth place.

Real Salt Lake kept their play-off hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday night.

Luke Mulholland scored the winner for Real Salt Lake, striking home from just outside the penalty box to break the 1-1 deadlock.

The Rapids had taken the lead when Kevin Doyle met a Sean St Ledger cross in the 16th minute but Joao Plata equalised and Mulholland struck the decider to put Colorado out of contention in the play-off race.

Earlier on Sunday, FC Dallas won their 11th home league game of the season, beating Houston Dynamo 4-1 in the Texas Derby at Toyota Stadium.

D.C. United are the fourth and final team to have clinched a place in the postseason. They beat New York City FC 2-1 in Washington D.C. although Frank Lampard did get on the score-sheet for NYCFC.
