Steven Gerrard admitted he based his game on Zinedine Zidane as a child, before joking that Leicester City are "cr*p" in a light-hearted interview with a young LA Galaxy fan.
The former Liverpool captain was driving in a ride-along video for Galaxy while the youngster posed a series of questions to the 36-year-old.
When asked about his boyhood hero, Gerrard said: "When I was your size, Zidane was the best player in the world so I used to try and copy him in the street when I was playing and practising."
Zidane and Gerrard crossed paths just once in their careers, which was a meeting between England and France at Euro 2004.
The current Real Madrid boss has spoken highly of Gerrard in the past, saying he was the "best midfielder in the world" for two or three years at Liverpool.
Gerrard went on to reveal his top three current players in the world, with one tongue-in-cheek addition to the usual suspects.
"Now it's obviously Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robbie Keane," said Gerrard. "They're the best players in the world aren't they?"
The young Galaxy player politely nodded before admitting he would like to leave the American club in two years and join Leicester, to which Gerrard looked baffled, replying - "What about Liverpool?".
"Don't go to Leicester, they're cr*p," joked Gerrard, as he signalled the thumbs down to the child. "Don't you want to stay at Galaxy and be the new Keane or [Giovani] dos Santos?"
The boy then asked Gerrard whether Landon Donovan should come out of retirement, a move which has since materialised, with the American rejoining injury-riddled Galaxy on Thursday.
Donovan originally retired in 2014 at the age of 32 after guiding the franchise to their fifth MLS Cup.
"If Donovan comes out of retirement then he may take my shirt and I won't play," Gerrard replied. "I started playing because he retired. If he comes back I won't get picked."
"You could still be a sub though," replied the child.
