Hull handed boost ahead of new season

Robert Koren has handed Hull City a boost just a week ahead of the new Championship season by signing a new two-year contract. Koren has been one of the Tigers' key performers since joining the club in August 2010, scoring 17 goals in 83 appearances from midfield. The new deal will keep former Slovenia international Koren, who has retired from international football, at the KC Stadium until the summer of 2014. He had been linked with a move to Leicester to link up with former manager Nigel Pearson, but Steve Bruce has persuaded him to stay with the Tigers. Bruce revealed earlier in the week that he hoped the 31-year-old playmaker would put pen to paper on new terms, with speculation over his future now put to bed.
